Location

Zaqatala is a land of walnut and tobacco plantations, pressed between the Greater Caucasus range and the Alazani valley. A nineteenth-century fortress survives in the town, and the Zaqatala reserve with its relict forests lies nearby. Sheki, Qakh and Balakan are one to two hours away by car.
